Sharks on many planes

and now for your irregularly scheduled transformers takes

Starting to think Cyberverse might actually be my new favorite Transformers series in terms of being most enjoyable to have on not for shitpost reasons. The designs are probably my favorite (on an overall level), for one thing, which means I have something cool to look at when the writing lags. Speaking of which…the writing is, mm, fine. It's definitely made for kids but what else is new about Transformers. Occasionally there are bits of greatness (check the other cyberverse tags for examples), and there are some decent character takes (Megatron is SUCH a fucking boyfrienemy. boyfrienemesis? and I always love a good bro Soundwave), as well as More Than One Woman and they aren't All Good and don't Always Hate Each Other (the bar is in hell).

I do think adhering too much to the idea of the canon timeline kind of bites the show in the ass. On the one hand, lots of cool versions of g1 chars, on the other hand, they so clearly also want to capture some of the Beast Wars/Beast Machines audience by making references to BW characters but can't bring them in officially and seeing the "almost there" kiiiind of makes it worse bc I can't stop myself from knowing who the character is a callback to and seeing this version as a dilution of them because they're essentially blank slates.

Also, some good visual gags and gags in general. Could use more roboticisms, though. Cyberslang? Whatever I'm calling it when they say shit like "Red Alert, he needs tech support!" and shit.
